Tropical Rainforest

Kyle had his SAGE fair last night at Clardy.  He was super excited to share his work with us and I must say (I know he's my child), but he did a VERY nice job.  You can tell he takes great pride in what he learns and enjoys expressing himself through his work. 

For the SAGE fair, all the Kindergartners and First Graders researched the Tropical Rainforest and then their work was put together which created a super neat mural in the back of their classroom.  Along the way, they had several research and writing topics.  He even learned how to cite his work-I was pretty impressed with his citing abilities, since that is the one thing I've had points taken away in many of my Ed. Spec. classes.  

In this picture, you will see his Anaconda Snake (upper left corner), with his Bromeliad.  He researched the Anaconda and then participated in several activities to learn more about the Anaconda-all of which is independently driven.  

We topped the night off by talking to his teacher and she is a great fit for him.  She explained the minds of "gifted" children (yeah, I'm NOT gifted), and some of the social-emotional skills they are working towards.  I was very impressed with her knowledge and am super happy he will be with her next year.

Kyle, we are super proud of you!  Keep up the great work!!  

What do you expect?

Who doesn't love a comfy spot to enjoy reading?  Gracie-Lou no longer needs naps, well on MOST days, she doesn't want or need a nap.  Grammy bought this recliner chair for Kyle for his birthday.  Gracie now enjoys snuggling up and enjoying Kia's library books while we take a few minutes to snooze.

Christ Has Risen

He's risen, Indeed!  Alleluia!  Our week ended with some Easter fun!  Of course, it didn't go off without a kiddo being sick, but we are on some meds and should be on our way to a quick recovery.  Despite having a short visit with family, we had a great time!  Oh, and my mom made some very good chicken!!

King of Kings Eggstravanganza

This is my absolute FAVORITE activity that our church does for children!  Oh, VBS is fun too, but I'm too frazzled to dig down deep and enjoy it!  This is our 4th or 5th year of attending and each year, the excitement and love for Jesus is overwhelming.  

As you can see, Natalie had the best time hunting for eggs.  Unlike the Bigs, she could care less about the candy-she wanted the eggs.  I'm very appreciative of Uncle Ry-Ry, he took Kyle to hunt for eggs and sent me the pictures he took.  Unfortunately, John had to work all day, so I was able to spend some quality time with my kids.  After the pictures, I will share with you a special moment I had with Kyle.

So, after we left church, Kyle and I were talking and we talked about how we show that we are Christians to others.  He told me that he tries to act like Christ would, but he hasn't talked to any of his friends about Jesus.  Then I asked him what he would do if someone made fun of him or if they called Jesus names and we chit-chatted back and forth about what he/we could say in response to the negativity.  Then I asked him what he would do if someone questioned if Jesus and/or God are real and he said, "I will go and get the Bible and show them.  Then, I would compare it to Pegasus-you can't see Pegasus, but it's real".  Only, my child-but I felt comfort in knowing that he has true faith and for that I'm thankful!

Soccer Time

John and I have had numerous discussions about what activities our children should be involved with and many they should be involved with at a time.  Since we have 3 kiddies, and there are only two of us (and John's awful work schedule), we have to be creative sometimes.  Anyway, a friend from Kia's school asked us if we wanted to try soccer and Kia has been begging to play.  So, we signed her up and added another night away from home to our schedule-but hey, this is John's sport and he just had a blast with his Princess Kiki!  Here are some pictures-THANK YOU, Nerned!!

Easter Fun!

We've had fun the last few weeks preparing for Easter!  Easter is one of my favorite times of year because it means warm weather is on the way, and there is a sense of new life that fills the air!  Last weekend, Kyle had a baseball tournament in Kansas, so John took him to his games, while I took the girls to the Gladstone Pool for the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt with Aunt Nerned and Gracie.  I think I got the better end of the deal-poor Kyle and Daddy froze!!  Here are a few pictures of our fun!
