Pizza Friday

As many of you know, my sister and I jobshare, so we share responsibilities at school and at home.  She takes care of my kids while I'm teaching and when I'm not in the classroom, she's at school and I watch my little niece, Gracie-Lou.  Every Friday at the Hurt Household for lunch, pizza is served.  Grandma Nancy (Kyle and Kianna's babysitter before I went part-time) served pizza every Friday. I decided to continue the tradition.  Here is a sweet picture of Gracie-Lou AFTER eating 2 slices of pizza and watching Caillou before nap.

I'm happy to report that we were notified today that our Jobshare has been approved for next year.  Thanks be to God!

7 years ago…..100 days of school

When I was pregnant with Kyle 7 years ago, (WOW), I never thought the day would come that he would be in school, public school, no less.  You see, my sister and I grew up at Holy Cross and I loved every minute of it.  I grew up thinking my children would follow my footsteps.  Sadly, the Holy Cross I once knew is no longer.  Getting back to my point….

When Kyle was born, I wasn't even thinking about school.  I'm a school teacher, but I always thought he would remain a baby (those that know me, this is NOT the time to bring up my postpartum blues) or a toddler and we'd live happily ever after.  Fast forward 6 years and here we have a little Kindergartner.

It's so hard to believe my first baby has been in school for 100 days and absolutely loves Kindergarten! My prayer for him is that he always has a love for school and learning.  I also pray he is always surrounded by children he feels comfortable with and can grow up to be friends with many of them.  I'm so proud of you, Kyle!  I love you MORE!

Here is our boy with our homemade 100 days of Kindergarten shirt.  Just a little side note, he goes to Gashland Elementary which is where my Dad went to school.  He will follow my Dad's footsteps, which eases this Mama's mind!

Lunch Fun

Having 3 kids, working part-time, and a hubby who works for the government, we have to watch every penny we spend.  I belong to several swap shop sites on Facebook. I will occasionally take advantage of the good deals.  Long story short, I happened to come across a lady selling sandwich cutters.  I immediately responded because I got 4/$4.00 We have triangles, square, circle and a heart.  The girls were super excited for their sandwiches at lunch!  

Natalie couldn't partake, but she sat with the girls and ate strawberry yogurt.  She's looking forward to her sandwich in a few months!

Tomorrow is Pizza Friday, but I can guarantee at least one of the girls will ask for a PB&J sandwich!

Kids say the…...

Working part-time has it's perks and one of those perks is our kids are less sick.  When I worked full time, Kyle and Kianna were sick all the time.  We had everything from RSV to eventually both kids needed tubes.  At 8 months, Natalie is sick for the first time with CROUP-wow, the other 2 never had this-new experience for me!  Anyway, my little seal is cute as can be and doing MUCH better!

Yesterday was my working day, so I wasn't "there" to actually hear Kianna say this to her Aunt Nerned.  Since my sister is my children's caregiver 50% of the time, I trust that Kianna really said this.

          "Aunt Nerned, I need some medicine".  "Because my sneezer has a cough and it's sick".

Little Stinker

As a teacher, it's funny to listen to the kids and what they say, but when it comes out of your child's mouth, you're left to wonder where they pick up these things?

It's 2014 After all

I've been admiring my sister's blog for awhile now and decided it was probably time to begin my own.  After all, it's 2014 and only Kyle's baby book is almost finished.  Maybe this will help me keep my thoughts organized until I find the "time" to complete Kianna and Natalie's baby book.

In the meantime, January 2014 is going well.  We rang in the New Year with just our immediate family and discussed vacation, or "baycation" options with the family.  Normally, we ring in the New Year with the Willis', Ranes' and Brendle clan, but they had a few sickies.  So, we rang in the New Year last weekend with them and the children had a great time!

Kyle has started playing basketball through Upward sports.  It's a Christian organization which teaches the fundamentals and basic bible verses through basketball play.  It's been fun watching him learn the sport-but I must say, I/We have a lot of teaching to do-he's too excited on the court and focusing is NOT his strong suit.

We've also enjoyed a few outings with my Mom's group and as a family.  Below are some pictures of our adventures.

And of course, many of our days are spent playing with all of our toys.  All the kids were spoiled at Christmas this year, so we have many new toys to play with.  Natalie is 8 months old, almost 9 months and loves to see the cute little baby in the mirror.  Below she is learning to pick up puffs and put them in her mouth.  She may be chunky, but she looks super short in her high chair.
